OMAR BARQUET | PRESENT TENSE

Present is a form expressing an action that is currently going on or habitually performed, a state that currently or generally exists. The guillotine and its origin are proposed by Barquet as a device that relates to time, a reference to the extension of events and circumstances in one's life and a relationship of tension with the past and future beyond a single individual.

The show is a comprehensive selection of the artist’s research on painting and sculpture, including “Reflections”, a sculpture from 2010 that was the center work for Barquet’s first museum exhibition at Museo Experimental del Eco (2010 -2011) curated by Tobias Ostrander.
