The Sea Holds Its Breath, 2024 | Intervened photography printed on fabrics | 80 x 252”

Luján Candria

Is a Latin-American visual artist whose practice explores the dynamic relationship between memory and the ever- evolving landscapes of our lives. Having migrated from Argentina to the United States, her work is deeply influenced by her connection to nature and the transformative essence of memory.

Luján’s proposal for Feria Clandestina 2024 centers on a site-specific project. At its core is a photo-textile-based installation featuring photographic images printed on fabric, evoking the fluid, ever-changing essence of the sea. Through intricate manipulation, these images capture the transient beauty and constant motion that resonate with the recurring themes of her work—memory, and nature.

The sea, with its vastness, mystery, and depth, serves as both a visual focal point and a symbolic motif within the installation. It becomes a metaphor for memory: perpetually shifting, sometimes elusive, and constantly evolving. The ebb and flow of the ocean mirror the layers of memories we carry, each adding complexity to our identities.
